Your midterm is now available here.
The exam is based on identification, commentary, and analysis of short passages from the set readings.
Here is the practice exam that we discussed on Wednesday. The rubric for Friday’s exam will be exactly the same. (Update: I have made a couple of very slight changes, but these are only for further clarity.) Please take careful note of what it says, not least the fact that your focus should be on trying to understand and explain the passage in front of you.
You have 24 hours to write this exam (until 9am Pacific Time on Saturday, February 27), but in total it should not take you more than an hour and a half of focused concentration. You may consult the texts and/or any other material, but I do not particularly recommend you do so, as it will only slow you down and even distract you from the task at hand. Indeed, I strongly suggest that you treat it as though it were an in-class exam.
Put this another way: the course playlist is currently 47 minutes and 19 seconds. If you start it as you start the exam, you should be well over halfway through by the time the music ends!
I will be on Zoom on Friday morning (at the usual link) from 9 to 10am, in case you have any questions.
Good luck!
